Training and Development

Volunteering is a great way to grow and develop your skills and abilities in a real working environment. Within volunteering there are other opportunities available to you:

  • Community Action hosts a student team with a limited number of spaces each year where a team students are trained to become project leaders and volunteering ambassadors. If you're interested in becoming part of this team then contact the volunteer coordinator at volunteering@rhul.ac.uk.

  • Community Action 'Get Recognised' accreditiation based on number of volunteering hours completed and skills developed.

  • Volunteering completed can form your 'Service' contribution towards a Duke of Edinburgh Award.
  • A Vaward can be achieved from any volunteering completed.
  • Induction training and specific project training depending on what projects you undertake.

One Step Ahead Leadership Development Programme

One Step AheadVE related course in which the programme includes training on:

  • ·       public speaking
    • ·       networking and partnerships
    • ·       Lobbying and campaigning

    Each day will take place in a different venue around London, including a day spent at the Houses of Parliament. After completing the training students receive a certificate from the Institute of Leadership and Management and will be fully equipped to be top leaders in volunteering or their future endeavours.
