Introduction to Information Compliance

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 was passed to promote a culture of openness and accountability amongst public authorities by providing the public with rights of access to the information they hold. For the purposes of the Act, Royal Holloway University of London is defined as a public authority.
Under the Act the College has 2 obligations.

  1. To produce and maintain a publication scheme
  2. To respond to requests from the public re. accessing information held
A great deal of information is already routinely available from the College; FOI expands this to include all information held by the College. This information is provided in two ways, either through the Publication Scheme or on request from the Records management team who are responsible for RHUL's compliance with the FOI Act.
