Royal Holloway is in an elite group of ten university
institutions whose departments all earned the top three
ratings for research, with scores of 4,5 and 5*. These
results confirm Royal Holloway's position as one of the
UK's leading research university institutions.
Various national newspapers prepared league tables
based on these results. Royal Holloway was particularly
pleased to be ranked 9th in the UK by the Financial
Times, 10th by the Daily Telegraph, 12th by The Times and 13th by The Guardian.
Two-thirds of Royal Holloway's scholars and scientists
are working in departments which have achieved the top
scores of 5 or 5*, indicating research of international
excellence. The remaining third are working in departments
with a score of 4, which recognises research of national
excellence.
Royal Holloway has always been renowned for excellence
in arts and the humanities, and these results reinforce
that reputation. Now, with scores of 5 and 5* across our
Faculty of Science, we can justify our claim to be a top university
institution across these sectors.
