Day to day, the Health & Safety Office works within the Secretary's Office in the Huntersdale Building (HUG24 & 25). The Health & Safety Adviser however has a direct line reporting to the Principal of the College.

Richard spent the early part of his career as Director of Personnel, specialising in industrial relations in the engineering industry and National Health Service. After a period in general management he became a Health & Safety Adviser and as well as having more recently joined Higher Education, he has undertaken a number of major consultancy projects incuding those in the engineering industry. He has specialised in organisational development planning and employment and health and safety law.

Matt started his career in medical research working as a Laboratory Scientific Officer, and from there made the decision to move into health and safety. He has been working for the College since 2000 and in that time has worked particularly closely with the science departments in the areas of chemical and radiation safety.

Matt is currently studying for an MA in Health and Safety Law and Environmental Law.

Alan joined the Royal Berkshire Fire & Rescue Service in 1982 after a six year period in a customer service role with British Airways. 

His fire service career took him to London in 1989 and Surrey in 1993, where he finally retired in March 2007. 

Across those three different brigades he undertook a variety of roles, including Watch  and Station Manager, Fire Safety specialist, Training Manager and Community Fire Safety Manager.  His last three years with Surrey Fire Brigade were spent as the Runnymede Borough Manager, with responsibility for the community safety activities of the firefighters at Chertsey and Egham fire stations, which gave him a valuable insight into the fire safety issues he now deals with at Royal Holloway.

Leanie has a background in Fire and Emergency Medical Care. This was followed by a career in the Manufacturing, Engineering and Electrical Industry as Senior Training Officer with specialization in Health and Safety.  She later joined the construction industry as a Health and Safety Manger before joining the Auditing industry as an ISO 9001:2000, OHSAS 18001:2007 and Product Certification, FSC/PEFC Chain of Custody certifications Auditor.
